The Greater Tenkiller area opens a ton of opportunities to get outside and explore the outdoors. Offering an extensive list of trails to hike and nature to see you are sure to have a great time. 
​Visit the Oklahoma Scenic Rivers Commission for a list of hiking trails along the Illinois River or call (918) 456-3251.
Visit the Sequoyah National Wildlife Refuge or call (918) 773-5251.
Visit the  Tenkiller State Park for lake guided tours or call (918) 487-5693.

Tenkiller Overlook Trail 

Overlook Trail at Tenkiller Ferry Lake is a 2.2 mile lightly trafficked out and back trail located near Gore, Oklahoma that offers the chance to see wildlife. The trail is good for all skill levels and is primarily used for hiking, trail running, and nature trips. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash.

JT Nickels Preserve 

There are three self-guided nature trails at the preserve ranging from .5 to 1.5 miles. The trails showcase some of the most well preserved landscapes in the Ozarks and offer good chances of seeing wildlife including deer, turkey and elk. ​

Tenkiller State Park 

The Tenkiller State Park Trail System consists of three 1 to 1.5 mile long hiking trails. Trails range in difficulty from a beginner paved trail to advanced trails featuring rocky overlooks and streams.

Sparrowhawk Primitive Area 

Sparrow Hawk Primitive Area Trail is a 3.8 mile heavily trafficked out and back trail that features a river and is rated as moderate. It sports some of the most beautiful views in northeastern Oklahoma. There are several adjoining trails off of the main one.

You need an Oklahoma hunting license, fishing license, or wildlife passport to enter the trail. Overnight camping is not permitted. ​
